(PRIMAPRESS) – PORTO CERVO – The Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta, organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda crowns the Swan 115 Moat of YCCS member Juan Ball which won by two points over the RP-Nauta 100 Morgana.
The east-southeast wind between 12 and 15 knots, with gusts exceeding 20 knots, allowed both divisions, Superyacht and Southern Wind Rendezvous, to easily complete the route defined by the Race Committee: the anti-clockwise circumnavigation of the islands of Caprera and La Maddalena, to return in front of Porto Cervo through the La Maddalena canal and the Passo delle Bisce for a total of approximately 26 miles. For the yachts involved in the Southern Wind Rendezvous, the route was appropriately shortened at the Secca di Tre Monti, thus avoiding exposing the crews to the upwind wave in the last miles before the finish.
Moat’s tactician, Guillermo Parada, commented on the final race as follows: “Today was a really challenging race, with a downwind start. Just before the start the air had increased significantly and so we hoisted a strong wind gennaker, but then it stabilized at 11-12 knots and the change of gennaker on these boats is very long and demanding, at the halfway point we were slightly behind on corrected time, so we had to work hard upwind to recover. I would like to thank the crew and the owner of Moat, who did not miss anything to have a good race and I am very happy to have been able to win with this team”. – (PRIMAPRESS)
