Enrico Berlinguer’s last visit to Oristano: meeting and testimonies

Forty years after the death of Enrico Berlinguer, the initiatives organized by the Foundation that bears his name stop in Oristano. In the great hall of the “De Castro” classical high school, in Piazza Aldo Moro, Friday 14 June at 6pm the appointment is with the memories and testimonies of the protagonists of a particular day: that of 16 January 1984, when Berlinguer – right in the “De Castro” gym – discussed peace, politics and the PCI with the students. Then that evening he accepted a student’s invitation to go and eat pizza at Catapano’s.

They will remember that day Gabriella Angheleddu, a Classics student in 1984, manager of an independent publishing house (Galerie der abseitigen Künste) in Hamburg and German teacher for immigrants; Antonio Carta, leader of the PCI, former regional president of the League of Cooperatives; Umberto Cocco, then provincial secretary of the PCI, journalist; Andrea Pianu, provincial secretary of the Fgci, head of Legacoopsociali Sardegna; Ignazio Putzu, at the time a student at “De Castro”, vice-rector of the University of Cagliari, director of Glottology and Linguistics, director of the Department of Philology, literature and linguistics; Franco Sotgiu, worker and leader of the PCI, who worked in the Metallurgica del Tirso, at Ersat and in Laore. Coordination will be entrusted to Vanna Fenu, journalist from LinkOristano.

Also speaking will be Tore Cherchi, former parliamentarian, mayor of Carbonia and president of the province, president of the Enrico Berlinguer Foundation; Maria Del Zompo, former rector of the University of Cagliari, full professor of Pharmacology, director of the Department of Biomedical Sciences; Antioco Floris, full professor of Cinema, photography, radio, television and digital media at the Department of Literature, Languages ​​and Cultural Heritage of the University of Cagliari; Patrizia Mocci, journalist from L’Unione Sarda; Gianni Piras, president of the Board of Directors of the Enrico Berlinguer Foundation; Pino Tilocca, head teacher at “De Castro” in Oristano and at “Contini” in Terralba.
