“For the commitment made, the care in writing, the emotional participation in explaining what was gleaned from the affectionate story of the grandparents. ‘Easter at the time of the Grandparents’ competition: myths, beliefs, rites, culinary and religious traditions linked to the Easter period”. This is the motivation that the jury wrote to award the prize to the little girl from Mesagne Beatrice Rondinone as part of the literary competition promoted by the ‘Lina Corciulo’ Institute of Salve (Lecce).

A small satisfaction that concerns the 9-year-old girl from Mesagne, who stood out in the literary competition ‘Easter at the time of grandparents: rites, beliefs, myths and traditions linked to the Easter period’, promoted by a well-known local association for research and promotion of the history and traditions of the Salento area. The competition, aimed at all school-age children, proposed a memory recovery activity through the stories of grandparents and elderly people about the traditions of the Easter period and the subsequent drafting of a written essay.

Beatrice, a lover of reading and writing, certainly did not miss the opportunity to interview her maternal grandparents, originally from the area, and carry out a theme that stood out for its commitment and originality and which was awarded an award last 22 June. This result is also a source of pride, which has once again brought the name of Mesagne beyond the borders of the Brindisi province, also standing out in Salento thanks to the skills of little Beatrice.
