VITERBO – The Lazio Region has allocated 17.6 million euros for the redevelopment of the old hospital in Viterbo, of which only 2 million will be available in 2026, while the rest will be disbursed in subsequent years. These funds are part of the three-year 2024-2026 public works program, approved by the Rocca council on the proposal of regional councilors Giancarlo Righini and Manuela Rinaldi. The interventions aim at extraordinary maintenance and energy efficiency of the structure, now degraded.
The Region has allocated over 392 million euros for various infrastructure interventions throughout Lazio, divided into three years: over 85 million in the first year, around 137 million in the second and around 170 million in the third. These funds will cover new constructions, ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of road, railway and soil protection works, including regulatory and seismic adaptations. Particular attention will be paid to the Rome-Viterbo railway.

In Tuscia, interventions are planned to address the risk of collapse of the tufaceous ridges on the railway site at the entrance to the Soriano tunnel (550 thousand euros in 2024) and near the Corchiano station (400 thousand euros in 2024). Furthermore, 500 thousand euros will be allocated within this year to regularize the intersection between the Sutrina and the Cimina in the municipality of Sutri. Other interventions include 1.1 million euros for the redevelopment of the entrance to the Viterbo Civil Engineering in via Marconi in 2024, and 2.365 million euros for the energy redevelopment and seismic adaptation of Palazzo Doria Pamphili in San Martino al Cimino between 2024 and 2025.

Councilor Giancarlo Righini underlined the importance of correct management of public funds and timely planning of interventions to obtain significant results. According to councilor Manuela Rinaldi, these interventions are fundamental for the redevelopment of the provinces of Lazio, contributing to the safety and attractiveness of the territories. Both councilors believe that the three-year public works program represents an important step towards improving regional infrastructure.

The Lazio Region’s three-year program represents a significant investment in local infrastructure, with particular attention to the redevelopment of healthcare facilities and the safety of railway and road infrastructure. These interventions aim to improve the quality of life of citizens and make territories safer and more attractive.
