And I don’t neglect the minor wars, the guerrillas, the holy wars, for oil, because “I don’t tolerate a free country on the border”. The Pope also said it: “block the scandalous arms trade” and “the arms industry, the main cause of world conflicts…”.
Who knows who advises the Pope in geopolitics: a subject that – from Machiavelli onwards – has been studied with a scientific method. It’s as if the Pope said that the earth is round, or flat (whichever you prefer). He said: “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s”… But the Pope is right: no more weapons! Let’s all disarm ourselves! But let’s go back to our Candidate: he is already beyond it. Now he puts those who fought for freedom in 1939-45 on the same level with those who fought for the Nazi-fascist order. He is implicitly telling all the kids who died on the beaches of Normandy, in the skies of London, on the barricades of Leningrad, in the sewers of Warsaw, in the woods of Langhe: you are like fascists. Thus, it denies the values of our Constitution, born from that armed struggle. And the values of the Democratic Party born in 2007 as “The Party of the Constitution”.
Narcissus, guided by rigid and firm principles, seeks moral superiority, “purity”, does not want to “contaminate” himself with evil. Catholic, he did not understand Thomas Aquinas’s lesson on the ethics of responsibility: which requires compromises, getting your hands dirty, choosing the lesser evil. He also proves to be ignorant of canto VI of the Iliad, his scale of values (an ethical pillar). The consequence is a collision course with international (public) law. Like Putin and Trump, randomly.
He is a “Do-gooder” by profession – he has received many awards in the humanitarian field. But now he mocks the Ukrainians: “Let’s take away their weapons for their own good!” tasting a savory snack. He speaks decisively, apodicticly, radically, like someone who knows, about very delicate issues (NATO, the risk of nuclear war, etc.) about which he has vague and confused ideas. He has never studied international relations (he doesn’t even have a degree). He wants to dissolve NATO at a time when a coalition of fascist nuclear superpowers threatens atomic war, already unleashing a global hybrid war and local wars. He always suggests comfortable ways.
Another Democratic Party candidate speaks at the same Roman event. For 30 years you have been involved in social issues and the disabled, founding several family homes, etc. She is serious, competent, she doesn’t make outbursts, she doesn’t smooth the hairs of the crowds, therefore she will not be elected. Is called Improta. Congratulations ma’am. And to Schlein for this choice. Less so for the elderly teenager from Foligno, whose candidacy some in the Democratic Party are happy about: “This way we will also get a slice of the pacifist vote.” But in an era in which people are disoriented, and need leaders capable of making proposals a vision of the possible future and how to get there, deceiving voters is not commendable.
