With poetry”Abyss” Denise Maria Vicentino, a student of the Liceo Artistico di Milazzo (IV A Graphics address) won first place in the 11th edition of the “Liceo Galileo-Galilei” poetry competition (IIS “Maurolico”), Higher Education Institutes category.
The theme of the annual competition was inspired by Yuri Gagarin’s phrase “From up here the earth is beautiful, without borders or borders”. In the headquarters of the Galilei Scientific/Linguistic High School in Spadafora, on the morning of 6 June, in the presence of the school director Giovanna De Francesco and part of the judging commission of the competition, Denise Vicentino, accompanied by her literature teacher, Professor Anna Arizzi, in addition to sum of money recognized by the regulation, received a parchment with the reasons for the prize awarded for the poetic composition: “The lyric, thanks to the cadenced progression of the versification, seems to insert us into a stage that leaves us amazed by the majesty of the images represented. Each verse of the lyric, like a photograph, captures scenarios that provide the reader with a semblance of reality; in fact, uncontaminated nature offers the opportunity to reflect on the true essence of life. In the final verse, the utopian peaceful coexistence between man and nature closes the lyric, sublimating the idea of a harmony that seems to evoke the golden age”.
The Liceo Artistico of Milazzo Guttuso, directed by Delfina Guidaldi, has deserved the first overall prize in this event three times in recent years.

“Abyss”
In the abyss of the eyes of the universe,
the stars dance in a vortex of light,
suspended in infinity like precious gems
on a night velvet mantle.
The Earth, jewel among the pearls of space,
cradle life in a gentle embrace,
paints landscapes of enchantment and wonder,
under the sun that gives it heat.
Majestic mountains touch the sky,
meandering rivers cut across the land,
ancient forests cradle thousand-year-old secrets,
Immense oceans bring endless stories.
In the dance of the winds and the song of the birds,
beauty is celebrated in every hidden corner,
in a perfect harmony of shapes and colors,
that captivates the soul and nourishes the heart.
In the land of tomorrow, bright and pure,
every step becomes an act of care,
where respect is the supreme abode
man and nature are in perfect harmony,
guardians of a world that shines with magic.
