The Representation in Italy of the EC in Liguria for the protection of the sea and the safeguarding of biodiversity: in Sestri Levante with EU Street Art

The initiative EU Street Art, launched on 14 May by the European Commission Representation in Italy, it includes Liguria among the seven regions chosen to raise awareness of the main current European issues and the results achieved by the European Union (EU) in the last five years.

Is titled “Rock the Boat” the work of wall art by the artist Alessandro Pizzuti, promoted by the Representation in collaboration with the Municipality of Sestri Levante. The painting aims to celebrate the natural beauty of the marine world through an immersive vision, between native species of the Mediterranean Sea and a marine flora with bright colors and full of life. The artist wants to stimulate collective responsibility and raise awareness of the importance of protecting our seas and oceans, which play a fundamental role for marine ecosystems and the achievement of climate neutrality by 2050.

The inauguration of the mural this morning 7 June in via Gramsci a Riva Trigosobetween the “Fincantieri” entrance and the related car park.

“I am very proud of this open-air work of art created by the artist Alessandro Pizzuti for the European Commission in the Municipality of Sestri Levante, which I thank for its fruitful collaboration in the context of this beautiful initiative. In the center of the painting is a Leudo, a historic vessel symbol of the local maritime tradition that has sailed from the end of the 19th century to today in the Mediterranean Sea.
