Don Giovanni Zampaglione, witness of “good healthcare”

«May 28, 2024 is a date that I will hardly forget». This is what Don Giovanni Zampaglione states at the beginning of his story (on Facebook). That day, Don Giovanni suffered a bad fracture of the right external tibial plateau.

«That same evening some “angels” from the town of Masella: Vincenzo, Santo, Roberto, Leo and Alessandro promptly took me to the emergency room in Reggio Calabria. Here I found a lot of availability and they kept me all night for checks. In the meantime the news began to spread and I received a lot of closeness and prayers from my two communities of Masella and Montebello Jonico and from everywhere, both on social media and through text messages or phone calls.”

«The next day I was admitted to the orthopedist (“Franca Faggiana”). In this regard – adds the priest – I would like to thank HE Mons. Fortunato Morrone, the vicar Don Pasqualino Catanese and all the priests who telephoned me every day. I thank Dr. La Rocca for her personal interest and for the fact that during the pre-hospitalization days she carried out the work with great parsimony. I thank Dr. Scarlata for his closeness and interest. I thank doctor surgeon Basile Rognetta and the entire team who coordinated the operation.”

Continuing his testimony, Don Giovanni adds: «I can attest to having found competent and qualified staff at IOMI (Orthopedic Institute “Franca Faggiana”) who manage to provide a high level of assistance no less than other listed structures in the north. I also noticed a lot of helpfulness and smiles from them which made my stay peaceful and peaceful. I thank my family who have been and continue to be close to me in these difficult moments.”

«Since I returned to my village (Masella), people have continued to show me such closeness. I have many “angels” who think of me every day and worry about my recovery. I noticed a “human chain of closeness”… I thank you one by one. Continue to pray for all the sick and also for me so that I can soon return to being a shepherd among my people. I conclude with a sentence that I published on Facebook: “During illness the doctor is a father; during convalescence a friend; when one is healed a guardian””, concludes the priest.
