Milan is working with an international club to conclude a transfer transaction, despite the history of great rivalry.
The summer transfer market of many Italian clubs has not yet come into full swing. Among these also that of Milan, which is considered one of the teams most likely to invest in at least 3-4 top players, so as to hand over to the new coach Paulo Fonseca a truly complete and up to the mark squad.
The Rossoneri club wants to intervene in all departments with at least one important addition. The absolute priority remains the new center forward, given that the departing Olivier Giroud must be replaced and a strong number 9 found who knows how not to make the Frenchman regret it. But as mentioned, level reinforcements have also been requested in other roles.
Precisely in this sense, a strange dualism is coming to light between Milan and a rival and foreign club, with which there is a market battle but at the same time also an ongoing negotiation that could be convenient for both. We are talking about Tottenham, a team that the Rossoneri eliminated from last year’s Champions League.
Milan-Tottenham, between market rivalry and joint business
As the English portal explains Football Insider, Milan and Tottenham would be allies and rivals at the same time from the point of view of transfer market situations. Precisely because they are both trying to buy the same player in midfield, but they are also in talks to close a deal for a defender.
The rivalry is for the French midfielder Youssouf Fofana. The Monaco player, currently busy at Euro 2024, has long been in the sights of both the Rossoneri and Spurs. A real battle of offers could break out in the coming weeks, given that he represents the prototype of a muscular midfielder and tactically intelligent that would serve both.
But Milan is also working with Tottenham’s approval on the Emerson Royal operation. The Brazilian full-back is the favorite of the Via Aldo Rossi club to strengthen the right defense lane. The ’99 class seems destined to leave London, given that he is not fully part of coach Postecoglu’s plans, so a window has opened up important glimmer of hope in favour of Milan.
These two international clubs therefore go from rivals to allies, even if Milan knows full well that they will have to shell out significant sums for both objectives. Fofana is valued at 20-22 million (contract expires in 2025), while Emerson Royal can currently be purchased for around 30 million.
