San Daniele del Friuli, 6 June – Friuli Venezia Giulia offers a structured welcome also to facilitate camper holidays and strengthen slow tourism, thus offering the opportunity to discover the small towns of our region. Open air tourism is increasingly sought after by visitors and in Friuli Venezia Giulia it boasts rapidly growing numbers, also thanks to the wide availability of beds which reaches 37 thousand. If we examine the tourist presences of the last year, stays in campsites have grown overall by 10%, while those in tourist villages by 5.6%. It is the sign of a new trend in the world of tourism, recorded in particular in the post-pandemic period, which sees Friuli Venezia Giulia among the most attractive and sought-after areas of Italy. This was announced by the regional councilor for Productive Activities and Tourism on the occasion of the traveling tour organized in collaboration with Messe Düsseldorf and Civd (German Caravaning Manufacturers’ Association) which, from yesterday until 8 June, sees the participation of 30 of journalists and sector operators, who will travel around the area on board 15 campers to discover the beauties of the region. The participants in the press tour were today guests of the Bagatto ham factory, where they met the representative of the Executive for an institutional greeting. At the same time, the councilor then appreciated the place opened in 1957, noting how, after more than 50 years, even today Rino Bagatto’s son and grandson continue their grandfather’s work with inexhaustible commitment and unchanged passion. The councilor recalled how in the region the “weight” of open-air structures (camper parking areas, campsites, tourist villages and marinas) is equal to approximately 17% of the total tourist presences (in 2023 over 1.7 million attendance out of a total of over 10 million). With reference to the origins of tourists, the lion’s share is made up, in order: Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Hungary and the Czech Republic. The organized press tour is the format chosen to present the Region as a destination suitable for the “mobile” sector travel”. In fact, Friuli Venezia Giulia will be present for the first time at the Caravan Salon 2024, scheduled in Düsseldorf from 30 August to 8 September. It is the most important traveling tourism sector fair in the world. Friuli Venezia Giulia, it was recalled, boasts 88 structures aimed at welcoming campers, including equipped rest areas – publicly or privately managed -, campsites with dedicated pitches and equipped farmhouses. In total there are 2,800 pitches in all the main tourist locations in the Region. ARC/LP/ma
