Expensive umbrellas and sunbeds with beach prices at 228 euros on average per week. This is what emerges from a survey by Altgroconsumo. In 10 cities it collected the rates of 211 beach establishments, from the first to the fourth row. Compared to last year, a place on the beach will cost us an average of 4% more. «In Alassio you spend 392 euros (on average, for a week) to stay in front of the sea. If this year you are looking for a seaside resort where the beach spot doesn’t cost a fortune, be careful where you book: there can be a big difference in price between one private establishment and another. Our annual survey on the cost of a seat on the beach highlights the differences not only between one location and another, but also between the first and the other rows that follow (second, third and fourth). Furthermore, our investigation shows that this year there have been many price adjustments applied here and there in the price lists of many Italian beaches (on average the beach costs 4% more).

Treating yourself to an umbrella and deckchairs on the beach has always been expensive, but in recent years it has become a real luxury. «The highest increase in Senigallia, which however is the least expensive», Altroconsumo points out. «This year too – he continues – we have collected the rates charged by beach establishments in ten Italian locations (Lignano, Rimini, Senigallia, Viareggio, Palinuro, Alassio, Gallipoli, Alghero, Taormina and Giardini Naxos, Anzio). As? We contacted all 211 establishments by phone and anonymously (as you would do to plan your vacation) asking for rates for the first four rows for the week of August 4th to 10th. On average, the first row costs 226 euros, a figure that is reduced as the subsequent rows are chosen: in the second row the average cost is 210 euros, 199 euros in the third, 186 from the fourth onwards, reports Altroconsumo.

Our investigation also compares this year’s fares with those of last year, taking the average cost of the first four rows as a reference. In some cases there is good news: in Lignano, Taormina and Giardini Naxos, for example, there was no increase compared to last year. Some adjustments – continues Altroconsumo – however there were in Alghero and Gallipoli (2%), Alassio, Anzio and Palinuro (3%), Rimini (4%) and Viareggio (5%). The increase recorded in Senigallia (8%) is higher, but in line with inflation, which nevertheless remains the least expensive location in our survey. Compared to last year, therefore, there have been small price adjustments. But these continuous upward variations have now become a slow and constant trend and are stratified on more significant increases that have occurred in past years (the average 5% in 2023, 10% in 2022.
