Train disaster in the Czech Republic, hundreds involved: dead and injured

The budget of thetrain accident which occurred in the Czech Republic resulted in four deaths and dozens of injuries. The clash, which involved a freight train it’s a passenger trainoccurred near Pardubice, in the central part of the country. The accident occurred shortly before midnight near the local train station, about 100 km east of Prague.

Rescue teams worked tirelessly through the night to extract travelers trapped in the destroyed carriages. On board the passenger train, an express traveling from Prague to Kosice in Slovakia, there were approximately 300 passengers.

The Prime Minister Czech expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. The freight train involved was transporting calcium carbidea hazardous industrial chemical, but fortunately the first two carriages were empty and no leaks of hazardous substances occurred.

The Minister of Transport, Martin Kupka, who went to the scene of the accident together with the Interior Minister, said that it was too early to determine the cause of the accident. According to initial investigations, it may have been caused by human error, as the driver of the passenger train ignored a stop sign.

This tragedy adds to a series of serious train accidents that have hit the Czech Republic in recent years, once again raising concerns about the safety of the country’s rail infrastructure.
