Luigi Fazzino from Melilla won the 39th edition of the Val d’Anapo-Sortino. But he wasn’t simply satisfied with the victory: with his Osella PA30 Zytek class 3000 he also set the new record of the Syracuse track, stopping the clock in race 1 at 3’08″ 89.
The organizers are gloating over an event that ended with thunderous applause from the public crowded on the Monticelli hill. Large crowd from the early stages of the race, despite a few drops of rain over the weekend. The enthusiasm did not waver. A success that the organizational staff made up of the Automobile Club Siracusa and Promotor Sport is enjoying in view of the 40th edition.
The final day of the event was characterized by the weather variability which required the race direction to always keep the track in perfect safety.
Sergio Imbrò draws the balance, in the dual role of organizer and driver. “The sensations are fantastic, both driving the precious staff who took care of every aspect of the event, and behind the wheel of the Lancia Delta HF which I had the pleasure of driving, achieving class success. I think, evaluating the public response, I can say that it went really well. There are aspects in which we can still improve, so we are convinced that there is the possibility of making further progress.”
“My gratitude goes to everyone: the race officials, the commissioners, the volunteers who constantly help us. And thanks also to the 10 riders from Sortino who defended themselves honorably with Lorenzo Sardo’s ninth place overall and other good placings. Congratulations to all the pilots and a round of applause to the winner, Fazzino. Now – concludes Imbrò – we will have the opportunity to discuss with the whole team to understand what to do for the future, thinking that edition number forty is around the corner”.
The municipality of Sortino knows this well and has decided to establish the figure of a race councilor: Sofio Murè.
