It kicks off next weekend 51st edition of the Mountain Tournament organized by the Csi of Modena, a historic football competition played in the Modena Apennines: the match between Prignano/Pescarola and Fox Serramazzoni opens on Friday 7 June. After the 50th edition, won by Montecreto, which saw the number of registrations in the Amateur category rise to 11 and the debut of two youth categories, the CSI Committee of Modena is relaunching the most popular football event of the summer. The 2024 edition of the Mountain Tournament still sees 11 amateur teams at the start: CRP Bortolotti, Fontanaluccia, Frassinoro, Blade ’80, Montecreto, Montefiorino, Palagano, Polinago, Prignano/Pescarola, Romanoro And Fox Serramazzoni, while the youth categories increase to three with Students 2008/2009 at 11, Boys 2010/2011 at 11 and Under 12 2012/2013 at 7. The tournament matches will take place on every weekend in June and July, divided into two groups, one with six and one with five teams, at the end of which the eight teams with the best points coefficient (points/games) will advance to the quarter-finals, played in a single match at the home of the best-placed team. The semi-finals will then be played over home and away matches, while the final will be played in the last weekend of July on a pitch yet to be determined. The 2023 edition saw Montecreto triumph in the final, winning on penalties over Montefiorino, who won the trophy represented by the work created by the artist Dario Tazzioli, which will pass from hand to hand to the winners of the next editions. “We are thrilled to launch the 51st edition of the Mountain Tournament – ​​explains the Vice President and Head of Sports Activities of CSI Modena Raffaele Della Casa – this is one of the many implications of our great commitment in the Modena Apennines area. After the success of the last edition, it was essential for us to prepare an even richer program for 2024 and we succeeded. The Mountain Tournament is part of the broader StartApp project, which aims to give centrality to the Apennines, and also exists thanks to the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region and the partners Vis Hydraulics, Lapam Confartigianato Imprese and SAU, and of the local administrations that do not they never lack their support.” Below is the composition of the groups.
