Banks, Trucco (Uilca): “New technologies must not leave users and workers behind”

The final considerations of the Governor of the Bank of Italy Fabio Panetta testify to the great solidity of the sector, finally accompanied by a satisfactory renewal of the Ccnl, but it is equally important not to underestimate the impact that new technologies will have on the banking world.

This is underlined by Uilca Liguria through its general secretary Silvio Trucco comments: “Even in Liguria, we welcome with confidence the possibility that new technologies, obviously including artificial intelligence, may have an impact on the streamlining of bureaucracy and the quality of banking work – he says – however, we are absolutely vigilant about the use of technology, which must be responsible. The tools we have at our disposal today must not be understood in the name of profit, but in that of sustainable progress: to be clear, we do not accept staff cuts and branch closures, replaced by machines“.

“Liguria has a peculiar social and territorial fabric: a very old region, especially in the hinterland, which has an important social presence in the banking branch and in the relationship with those who work there, a relationship that cannot be replaced with a computer. Let us therefore embrace the technological revolution, but always with attention to workers and users” concludes Trucco.
