The Giro d’Italia, a European showcase for Friuli-Venezia Giulia

The Mortegliano – Sappada stage of the Giro d’Italia it represented much more than just one cycling race. A crucial moment of promotion was the event organized in Brussels at the Italian Embassy in Belgium. In the presence of representatives of diplomacy, industry and tourism, the deputy governor of Friuli-Venezia Giulia underlined the importance of this stage for the strengthening of international relations, with a particular focus on Go!2025the year in which Nova Gorica and Gorizia will be European Capital of Culture.

The event saw the participation of important institutional figures such as Ambassador Federica Favi, the ambassadors of Austria and Malta in Belgium, the deputy minister of business and Made in Italy, and representatives of the Ministry of the Environment. The main sponsors of the Giro d’Italia, including Enel, Trenitalia and the Belgian beer brand Chimay, also played a leading role.

Promotion of the territory and local excellence with the support of the Region

In Sappada, near the finish line of the 19th stage, PromoTurismoFVG has set up a hospitality area. This space allowed the numerous spectators to taste local food and wine products, highlighting the excellence of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

The councilor for productive activities underlined the importance of these initiatives to make the area known to a large audience, taking advantage of the great visibility offered by the Giro d’Italia. The television broadcasts broadcast in various countries around the world represent a significant image return for the region.

Friuli-Venezia Giulia has invested heavily over the years to support the Giro d’Italia. According to the finance councilor, the presence of this international competition along the roads of the region is a great injection of energy, not only for the Friulian athletes involved in the competition, but also for the young people and local amateur teams.
