The 17th stage of the Giro d’Italia from Selva di Val Gardena to the top of Passo Brocon also goes to the archives. The victory went to Georg Steinhauser which had already animated the Livigno stage. First attempts on the Cima Coppi stage

At the top of the Rolle, the pink jersey group halves the disadvantage from 2 minutes to 1 minute.

Steinhauser’s feat

When the escape now seems to be running out, on Passo Gobbera, with the group 26″ behind, suddenly the group gives up again. Ghebreigzabhier tries to take the lead, but Steinhauser follows him. On the first climb of the Brocon of this 17th stage of the Giro d’Italia, Steinhauser catches up with the Eritrean rider, and the two of them are also joined by Marco Frigo.

Towards the summit of Brocon, Steinhauser snaps and leaves everyone there. The group’s delay increases to 2 minutes. Georg Steinhauser arrives at Pieve Tesino before returning to the Brocon, with over 40 seconds on Ghebreigzabhier. On the first ramps of the climb, the Eritrean still loses to the German EF, while in the group, at over 3 minutes, INEOS remains in the lead without any particular accelerations.

About 2.5 km from the finish line, Dani Martinez tries to break away from everyone in the pink jersey group. Pogacar takes him back without any problems and proceeds at his own pace, but he is always the one to break away from everyone.

Meanwhile, Steinhauser flies towards the first major success of the 22-year-old German’s career. A wonderful victory in a great stage with over 4000 meters of altitude difference.
