The filming of the first and highly anticipated docufilm on the private life of Alberto Sordi entitled “Alberto Sordi secret”, based on the book of the same name written by the journalist and Rai presenter Igor Righetti, has concluded in Fabriano, in the eighteenth-century villa of the real Marquis Onofrio del Grillo. cousin of the actor – who is also the director – and published by Rubbettino editore, now in its 11th reprint. The takes, in addition to Fabriano, took place in some places dear to the national Alberto such as the capital, the village and the archaeological park of Ostia antica, Castiglioncello, Narni and the Republic of San Marino. An international project, also in English and Spanish, in which for the first time Alberto Sordi’s millions of fans around the world will discover his family life. The cinema release is scheduled for June 28th, as the actor would have turned 104 on the 15th of the same month.

The docufilm consists of a documentary part with unpublished interventions by friends and relatives of the actor including the director Pupi Avati, the announcer and TV presenter Rosanna Vaudetti, Totò’s niece Elena de Curtis, the king of the paparazzi Rino Barillari , Patrizia and Giada de Blanck, Sabrina Sammarini (daughter of the actress Anna Longhi), Tiziana Appetito and Alessandro Canestrelli (children of the still photographers of dozens of films by Alberto Sordi, Enrico Appetito and Alessandro Canestrelli senior), Jason Piccioni (son of composer and musician Piero), the actress Piera Arico (wife of Gastone Bettanini, great friend and first secretary-agent of Sordi until 1965) and her daughter Fiona Bettanini, the Secretary of State of the Republic of San Marino Federico Pedini Amati, the the editor Cecilia Gremese, the director of photography Sergio D’Offizi, the director of the “Marchese del Grillo” relais Mario D’Alesio, Emanuela Della Mora, Fabio Bianchi (former president of the Marchese del Grillo Association), family photos, video and original audio. This part is linked to another where the narration becomes a black and white film story with characters who actually lived, in which Alberto Sordi’s childhood and adolescence in the Twenties and Thirties is shown thanks to the performances of beloved actors and actresses from the general public such as Enzo Salvi, Fioretta Mari, Emanuela Aureli, Maurizio Mattioli, Daniela Giordano, Dado Coletti, Mirko Frezza, Daniele Foresi, Lorenzo Castelluccio, Emily Shaqiri, Vincenzo Bocciarelli, Fabrizio Raggi, Valerio Mammolotti, Moira De Rossi and three boys from different ages who impersonate the actor (Marco Camuzzi, Flavio Raggi and Daniel Panzironi). A biopic in which nothing is fiction, the fruit of imagination, but where instead the dialogues, situations and characters retrace Alberto Sordi’s real life, unknown to the public.

Moreover, it is known that the actor was very reserved, did not like ostentation and his private life was armored. With the public, to whom he was very attached and grateful – and with his collaborators – he only shared his professional life. A docufilm far from clichés, full of emotions, anecdotes and curiosities, proudly and deliberately independent, as it was made without any public contribution. It will reveal Alberto Sordi off the set, in interviews and official television appearances. Partners of the project are the Ministry of Culture, the Archaeological Park of the Colosseum, the Archaeological Park of Ostia Antica, the Secretariat of State for Tourism of the Republic of San Marino in the person of the Secretary of State Federico Pedini Amati, the Municipality of Narni, Cultural Heritage of the Diocese of Terni Narni Amelia, Pasta Armando (premium brand of De Matteis Agroalimentare), Artemisia Lab, “Relais Marchese del Grillo” (Fabriano), Enrico Corsi’s “La Cura” winery.

An international project as Alberto Sordi is still much loved and known throughout Europe, in South and Central America, in Russia, in Australia and in the United States (in 1955 the American president Truman invited him to Kansas City to give him the keys to the city and the position of honorary governor as a reward for the pro-American propaganda promoted by his character Nando Moriconi; in ’79 he received honorary citizenship of the city of Plains, Georgia). Numerous retrospectives dedicated to him in many American cities such as New York (Carnegie Hall Cinema), Los Angeles and San Francisco. A retrospective of his works was also organized in Sydney. A docufilm also useful to the new generations so that the historical memory of a great actor like Sordi is not lost and, on the contrary, regenerates.

The direction, story and screenplay are by Igor Righetti, the director of photography is Gianni Mammolotti, set designer and costume designer Stefano Giovani, the music is by Maria Sicari, a Cameraworks production, produced by Massimiliano Filippini.
