His name was Geoff Kitchen, he was 73 years old and was leaving, together with his partner Linda, for a six-week holiday in Australia. He is the only victim of the accident on the Boeing 777-300ER, which left London and headed for Singapore, hit by strong turbulence which also caused dozens of injuries on board, before the emergency landing at Bangkok airport.
According to initial reconstructions, Geoff Kitchen died of a heart attack after being tossed on the plane that left for Singapore but then crashed over two thousand meters between Myanmar and Thailand in just six minutes.

Who was

Geoff Kitchen worked as an insurance professional before retiring. Having left the world of work, in addition to being a grandfather, he had become an amateur theater actor (a passion shared with his wife). The flight to Singapore which left London’s Heathrow airport was a stop which, together with his wife Linda, would take him to Australia to spend a regenerating holiday of around six weeks. Originally from Bristol, he has lived in Thornbury, Gloucestershire for much of his life. Together with his wife Linda he founded the Thornbury Musical Theater Group. He had recently campaigned for the reopening of Armstrong Hall in Thornbury, which had previously been used for theater productions. He leaves behind a son and a grandson.
