Nothing Phone (2) and (2a, €399!), both 12GB/256GB, are on offer! What changes, which one to buy

Let’s face it: in a world where smartphones they are all a bit the same on an aesthetic level,
Nothing Phone stands out for its originality. The company makes all of its smartphones with
high quality materials, also integrating many LEDs that light up for calls or notifications, not to mention the software interface, which is also truly excellent. They are also very robust and recognisable: all these are distinctive traits that attract the attention of those who want to be
a little original and refined. Today they are on offer Nothing Phone (2) and (2a), both 12GB/256GB but with a price very different. Let’s talk about.

There are almost €200 difference between one model and another – (2) is the most expensive – here’s what changes:

– The display of (2) is a LTPO OLED120Hz, HDR10+, 1600 nits (HBM),
1600 nits (peak) while on (2a) we find a AMOLED120Hz, HDR10+, 700 nits (typ), 1100 nits (HBM), 1300 nits (peak).

– The (2) adopts Qualcomm SM8475 Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (4 nm), the (2a) Mediatek Dimensity 7200 Pro (4 nm); that of (2) is therefore more powerful, although Dimensity is certainly not a poor choice.

– Pay attention to the battery and not so much for the mAh, 4700 on (2) and 5000 on (2a): wireless charging is provided on (2), on (2a) no.
