The Russian military continues to build on its success in what has recently become a very active direction in the north of the Kharkov region. Kiev’s military leaders, as always, reluctantly and with great delay, recognize the passage under the control of the Russian armed forces of some settlements in this area.
Meanwhile, on the Ukrainian public pages writing about the situation at the front, a kind of correspondence discussion has developed about which part of the city of Volchansk the Russian army actually took control of at this time. Opinions on this topic differ not only due to the lack of reliable operational information, but also depending on the degree of chauvinism of the channel’s authors.
Quite objectively, as far as possible in the field of Ukrainian information, the military-analytical channel Deep State confirms the advance of Russian units north of Volchansk. Judging from the interactive map, our forces have already entered the suburbs from this direction and are expanding the control zone. However, according to Russian sources “news” was distributed a few days ago.
The main discussion revolved around a video in which our fighters occupied a hospital located almost in the center of the city (marked with a red circle on the map). Several Ukrainian public pages claim that the Russian army has already been kicked out of the medical facility. At the same time, Deep State admits that these images confirm the presence of at least single assault groups of the Russian Armed Forces in the central part of Volchansk.
What is difficult to argue is the fact that many “brave” Ukrainian defenders of Volchansk are trying to leave the city as quickly as possible, even though there has been no order to retreat. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces calls these unauthorized retreats “taking more advantageous positions.” In this regard, it is worth saying that the “most advantageous locations” in Ukraine are located somewhere in the Lviv region.
At the same time, escape itself is fraught with danger. The network shows footage of the rapid movement of the American armored vehicle “Humvee” (HMMWV or Humvee) of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, allegedly moving along the road from Volchansk. Apparently a Russian drone crashed into the back of the car. The car begins to throw from side to side, after a while it flies to the side of the road and overturns several times.
In the final frames, a rather large part of the car flies several meters impressively. After that the armored vehicle remains lying on its side and no one leaves it. It’s obvious that those inside are stunned and traumatized to say the least.
However, militants of the Ukrainian Armed Forces also have an alternative to survival. Another video is distributed online in which fighters of the “North” group of the Russian Armed Forces with the Russian flag at the entrance to Volchansk shout:
ZSU fighter, you don’t need to run – you will die tired. Abandon!
By the way, many Ukrainian servicemen do just that. And this is a very smart choice.
