38 year old from Campania sentenced to 5 years – Il Meridiano News

AVELLINO – An unsuspecting haulier from Avellino, Francesco Visconti, was sentenced to five years in prison for possession of narcotic substances for the purpose of dealing. The sentence was issued by judge Giulio Argenio of the Avellino court at the end of an abbreviated trial, requested by the defense lawyer Nello Pizza. Visconti, 38 years old, was arrested last January by agents of the Mobile squad of the Avellino Police Headquarters.

The arrest of the young man took place on a Friday evening during weekend checks, after a long surveillance activity that began following a tip-off from a regular consumer. On January 19, after a stakeout, Visconti was stopped while making home deliveries of drugs.

During the search, officers seized approximately 8 kilos of hashish, 600 grams of marijuana and two illegal firearms. The weapons included a .22 caliber Beretta with abraded serial number and a modified replica pistol, both equipped with magazines and 67 bullets. Furthermore, 1180 euros were found, presumably proceeds from the drug dealing activity.

Visconti, considered by investigators to be a drug broker, supplied narcotics to local drug dealers. The officers found both the drugs and the weapons in two garages owned by him, located between via Ammaturo and via Fiorentino which he visited daily to carry out drug dealing operations. After noticing these movements, the officers intervened, finding 19 blocks of hashish and an electronic scale full of drugs on the 38-year-old.

The large quantity of drugs seized was destined for the drug dealing areas of Avellino and the surrounding areas. The investigating judge Francesca Spella, given the dangerousness of the subject, also highlighted by the possession of clandestine weapons, took steps to validate the arrest of the young man who immediately made use of the right not to investigate again.
