With a large and heartfelt participation of students and teachers from middle schools in the Cesena area, the awards ceremony for the Journalism Championship took place yesterday. ‘Reporters in class’, organized by Resto del Carlino with the support of Confcooperative Romagna, is the event now in its 22nd edition which aims to bring young people closer to the world of information, both printed and digital. In the setting of the Palazzo del Ridotto, about a hundred young people took part in the awards ceremony yesterday morning. The first classified were the students of the Savignano middle school. Second place went to the Sacro Cuore middle school of Cesena and third place went to the students of the Dante Arfelli middle school of Cesenatico. The top three classified were awarded shopping vouchers, while all participating schools were given plaques and gadgets provided by Confcooperative Romagna.

“We have been carrying out this initiative involving the middle schools of Cesena for 22 years – said the head of the Cesena editorial office of the Resto del Carlino, Emanuele Chesi – and the pages that the students have created are beautiful and well done. We thought of this competition as a field test for budding journalists and we asked the students to tell their world with a journalistic slant, the kids were very receptive thanks also to the commitment of the teachers”.

“We have been sponsors of the journalism championship for many years – reiterated Mirco Coriaci, secretary of Confcooperative Romagna – because we believe that information, real information, is important. We found a young audience full of energy, students and teachers who supported the project that concerns the world of information”. “I am pleasantly surprised to have had such young and enthusiastic ‘colleagues’ for a short time – added the journalist Elide Giordani, regional secretary of the Order – What the students did was extraordinarily important because they faced a language new and they were given the opportunity to convey a message. The kids had a critical attitude and I am convinced that from now on they will be much more attentive readers, with the ability to discern what is true and what is not. of falsehood in the world of communication”.
