BOLZANO. They went on until operations to put out the enormous fire late in the evening broke out in via Piani di Mezzo in Bolzano and involved a party of the structure that houses the Alpitronic company (leader in the production of charging stations for electric cars).
The alarm went off at 9.18 am 40 firefighters of the permanent body with two revolving ladders, a hydraulic platform and several tankers were immediately sent to the site of the fire. Since it was clear from the beginning that the fire was of exceptional dimensions, the volunteer firefighters of the city of Bolzano were called at the same time.
The fire broke out on the roof of an empty warehouse on which renovation operations were being carried out.
The fire was brought under control as early as midday (HERE THE ARTICLE) but the extinguishing operations then continued for several hours. Fire surveillance was also organized during the night.
In all they were busy beyond 100 firefighters of the Permanent corps of Bolzano and gods volunteer firefighters from Bolzano-Città, Gries, Oltrisarco-Aslago and Cardano.
The experts from the provincial environmental agency intervened on site to measure the consequences of the fire on air quality. The measurements were carried out using rapid measurement methods in the immediate vicinity of the source of the fire, in the surrounding residential areas (including the primary school) and at the Renon cable car station.
Initial results show that there was no contamination due to air movements and resulting mixing. For example, no unusual concentrations of HCL (hydrochloric acid), HCN (hydrocyanic acid), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and chlorine were detected directly on site.
The operations to make the area safe, to remove debris and to analyze the air will continue today.
