ORTONA. Today begins the forgiveness of Saint Thomas the Apostle, a celebration that continues until the day after tomorrow. The celebrations will have their focus in the evocative historical procession of the silver keys. The program of events was curated by the Ortona Events Committee. The procession of the Lady of the Keys which sees the protagonist Federica Marzolo24 years old, volunteer for the Italian Red Cross, is there from 5pm to 7pm today: it starts from Largo Castello, going up the eastern promenade and Corso Garibaldi, touching the church of Costantinopoli and then passing the Zambra cinema and cutting towards Via della Freedom, go down Corso Vittorio Emanuele and end in Piazza San Tommaso.
From 7.30 pm, in Piazza della Repubblica, the evening begins with the entertainment of the historical groups of Ortona. At 9pm the Città di Recanati band performs with the Ortona band. The gift parade is scheduled from 8 to 12 tomorrow, from Piazza San Giuseppe to the church of San Tommaso. And from 2pm to 8pm tomorrow there is the procession of San Tommaso which starts from the cathedral to touch the castle, the eastern one, Corso Garibaldi, and go down from Piazza Porta Caldari towards Corso Vittorio Emanuele and return to the cathedral. Concerts with the musical groups $osa_66026, Globo, Cicca, Carro_Z22 start at 9pm in Piazza della Repubblica, and at 10pm Arual in concert with the 2024 summer tour.
Tomorrow the long-awaited fair is scheduled in the Madonna del Carmine district, the 46th national gathering of the Forgiveness of St. Thomas the Apostle organized by Pam, Fiva, Confcommercio and Asso Service, in via Roma, via dei Frentani, via Bonanni, via Tugli, via Gran Sasso, via Gaetano Bernabeo, via Perez and via Masci. On Monday at 9pm Scena Muta will perform in concert and at the end there will be fireworks from the Aragonese castle.
To facilitate participation, the Municipality has provided a continuous service without specific timetable, depending on transport needs, with a shuttle bus made available by Napoleone Autolinee, from 3pm today to 1am, from 9am to 1pm and from 5pm to 1am on Sundays, connecting the roundabout of the shopping center in the Santa Liberata district to the roundabout that connects via Massari and via Monte Maiella. There are four areas in which the attractions of the amusement park are arranged: Ciavocco bus terminal, a part of via D’Annunzio, part of Piazza San Francesco and part of the square in front of the municipal stadium.
The traffic plan of the local police provides for a ban on parking and transit until May 7th in Piazza San Francesco between Via Mancini and the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, in Via Papa Giovanni XIII in the square adjacent to the stadium; in the Ciavocco park bus terminal and, finally, in via D’Annunzio. The bus terminus has moved to the stretch of via Pantaleone Rapino between via Dommarco and via della Libertà, and between via Papa Giovanni XXIII adjacent to the playground. To facilitate vehicle parking, one-way traffic has been provided from 2pm to midnight on 4, 5 and 6 May in via De Ritiis towards the hospital and in via Marina towards via Cervana to allow parking on both sides.
