“The European Council underlines the need for urgently provide air defense systems to Ukraine and speed up and intensify the delivery of all necessary military assistance, including artillery ammunition and missiles. It invites the Council, in particular at the next summit, and the member states to ensure the necessary follow-up”. This is what we read in the conclusions of the extraordinary summit underway in Brusselsand from which also comes the approval for the proposal for the use of profits deriving from assets frozen in Moscow to support Kiev.

“With President Zelensky we discussed the latest developments in Ukraine. We strongly condemn Russia’s attacks on critical infrastructure, especially the energy sector. We must urgently provide air defense and accelerate the delivery of all military support, including ammunition.” , the President of the European Council Charles Michel said on X.
Zelensky to EU: “We deserve the same air defense as Israel”
“Our current fundamental need is air defense. Here in Ukraine, in our part of Europe, unfortunately we do not have the level of defense that we all saw in the Middle East a few days ago. When, thanks to the combined strength of the allies, they managed to shoot down almost all the missiles and drones that attacked Israel. We are still convinced that it is necessary to protect Europe from ballistic missiles and Shaheds, cruise missiles and bombs, as happened in the skies of Israel and other countries in the region Our Ukrainian sky and the sky of our neighbors deserve the same security”, underlined Zelensky for his part.
“We do not exclude that the infrastructures of our other nuclear power plants and distribution networks are also threatened by Russian terrorism. This can only be stopped by air defense, by specific systems such as Patriot, Iris-T, Samp-T, Nasams… you have. They are needed in Ukraine right now, needed to prevent Putin from relying on terrorist methods. And this is also your security need,” Zelensky added.
