May to childhood, the festival opens with a meeting on safety at work
Descriptive text here

BARI – Two short films and a theater piece to tell young people about the delicate issues of workplace safety and environmental sustainability, in some ways still taboo topics of contemporary times. The courageous attempt at dissemination, which contaminates theater and cinema, will be staged on 2 May 2024 in the Kismet Theater in Bari, where an event promoted by the SAT Spettacolo Arte Territorio Foundation will take place – as part of the Maggio all’infanzia Festival – and Theaters of Bari, with the participation of the regional guarantor of minors’ rights, Ludovico Abbaticchio, who contributed to the initiative aimed at regional schools.

During the matinee, which will begin at 9.30, the theater show “Vite Spezzate” will be presented, with Teresa Ludovico and Michele Cipriani, a drama centered on the story of 10 people, workers from the Puglia region, who tragically died in the workplace.

Mid-morning, the screening of the short film “Cara Alice”, produced by the Sadico Film Factory, with the contribution and promotion of the Regional Guarantor of Minors’ Rights, and the short film “Conto Terzi”, produced by INAIL Puglia.

The students involved are around 400, coming from Bari and the Province and belonging to the following institutes: “IISS Giulio Cesare” of Bari, “IC AMEDEO D’AOSTA” of Bari, “IISS Elena di Savoia” of Bari, “ITTS Lenoci of Bari ”, “ITT Panetti-Pitagora” of Bari, “ITET de Viti de Marco of Triggiano (Valenzano branch), “ICA Moro – G. Falcone” of Adelfia (Ba), “IIS Da Vinci – Agherbino” of Putignano.

This dissemination work, which takes shape by establishing an institutional collaboration with the actors of the Apulian territory, also through a partnership with the Municipalities, is aimed at the school groups involved in participating. The declared objective is to stimulate a moment of reflection that forms a new environmental and civil awareness. The new generations (who don’t know yet) must know these stories: it is the task of witnesses to tell and raise public awareness, so that a new Fibronit never arises again. A highly current theme, which reflects, on a scale, paradoxical events such as the Ilva case in Taranto and many other events in which the primary good of public health has been exchanged for profit objectives, carefully hidden by the counterpart of the need to create employment.

Bari does not forget: one day the awaited finale will come with the inauguration of the “Rebirth Park”, dedicated to the victims of asbestos, to restore balance in the collective memory, mortally wounded by poisons and silence and still grappling with mourning difficult to process.
