“A celebration, but it’s impossible to forget”

Forlì, 30 April 2024 – Almost a year after the terrible flood, solidarity continues for those who have suffered damage. Yesterday afternoon, in the presence of the city authorities and some neighboring municipalities, Confartigianato Forlì donated 1,200 euros to 42 local artisans (50,400 euros in total) seriously damaged by the water and mud of the flooded rivers.

Aid for 42 entrepreneurs. Confartigianato: “A celebration, but it is impossible to forget”

The event opened with a video message from the president national trade association, Marco Granelli: “Confartigianato is always ready to network, it demonstrated it even in those terrible days by standing alongside those in need and trying to provide concrete answers. The artisans are deeply linked to the territory: caring for the earth must be the primary objective and everyone’s responsibility.”

The association, which in the city it has around 3,500 associated entrepreneursin recent months has raised funds from all over Italy: “Today is a day of celebration – underlines Luca Morigi, president of Confartigianato Forlì –, because we can also give economic help to the artisans, but let’s not forget what we experienced a year ago. The board of directors has decided to donate these resources to companies with active services in our association, which have already applied for compensation to the Chamber of Commerce. We have decided to give the possibility of accessing the funds also to those who will activate services in the near future Confartigianato”.

The days of the flood However, they remain indelible in the memories of the people of Forlì. During the event two local entrepreneurs took to the stage to talk about their experience, which still brings emotions and bitter tears to this day.

Among these i Gregori brothers, owners of the garage in via Isonzo, submerged by the force of the Montone: “On the evening of May 16th we saw the river swell but we didn’t give it any importance. All the electronic equipment, purchased making so many sacrifices, were destroyed”. While the craftsman recalls those hours of anguish, images of the workshop turned upside down and covered in slime pass behind him: “We had nothing left – continues Gregori –. In the following days many young people came to give us a hand from all over Italy, some even from Milan. The scenario was apocalyptic but thanks to their help we started again when I heard the noise of the printer again.

Also Giorgio Bergamaschi, of Autocarrozzeria Forlivese in via Padulli (Romiti district) he recalls those moments: “I had one meter and sixty of water in my shop, I couldn’t save anything”. The solidarity of the ‘mud angels’ and of Confartigianato are the certainties that recur in the entrepreneurs’ stories: “On Sunday there were many boys with shovels in their hands, they removed 40 centimeters of slime from us on a thousand meters of workshop. Thanks special goes to the trade association for this donation and for all the help it has given us in these difficult months.”
