Massafra municipal council
Yesterday the municipal council of Massafra met and at the opening of the session the councilor Alessandro Albanese presented a question regarding the methods of adopting dogs in the municipal area, with specific reference to the events linked to one of them and asked what is the logic that drives the administration in terms of animal welfare. Mayor Fabrizio Quarto responded by providing answers to the questions posed by Councilor Albanese, also thanks to a series of numbers supporting the various initiatives undertaken in favor of the “animal world”.
Albanese then presented aquestion with which, faced with the persistent inadequacy of the number of Local Police Officers, asks what solution the administration intends to adopt to restore an acceptable number of agents operating in the area. Local Police Councilor Antonio D’Errico provided clarifications in this regard, focusing on ongoing initiatives aimed at hiring new officers.
Finance Councilor Ida Cardillo reported on Management Report for the 2023 financial year, identifying it as an account of administrative concreteness in which a great political and administrative result and teamwork are confirmed so that Massafra can continue to bet on its future. «Going into detail – Cardillo continued – the relevant management closes with a surplus of €. 35,114,775.40, taking into account the influence of residuals and arrives at an administration result of €. 40,391,760 as of December 31, 2023 and with a cash balance of €. 14,580,273. The free unrestricted surplus amounts to €1,887,121.13. We reached – concluded councilor Cardillo – many goals in the sectors of public works, social stability, support for young generations, the cultural sector, spaces dedicated to sport, securing the territory and animal welfare, balancing the maximum rigor on the accounts, through a method that has made this Administration more efficient in the transparency and correctness of the processes”. Councilor Teresa Errico intervened on the point, asking why, with the various possibilities of accessing financing, the free surplus is used for investments. Furthermore, again councilor Errico, you focused on the “presence” of dated residues, not understanding their existence, and on the poor collection of taxes, despite the percentage of the latter having improved. Councilor Maurizio Baccaro highlighted the good use of last year’s surplus, recalling a long series of public works completed and under construction: all things useful to the community, as Baccaro himself underlined.
With 14 votes in favor and 4 against, the the board approved the management report for the 2023 financial year.
The Council changed the composition of some Council Commissions and recognized the off-balance sheet debts included on the agenda.
