The road accident that occurred yesterday afternoon on state road 100, near San Basilio di Mottola, in the province of Taranto, caused the death of two people: a mother and her 12-year-old son. The tragedy occurred on a stretch of road already known to be dangerous, where unfortunately numerous accidents have occurred in the past.
The fight
In the collision between a car and a lorry, the truck driver, a 24-year-old boy originally from Buonabitacolo, was injured but not seriously. The Kia in which the victims were traveling collided violently with the truck, causing the death of the mother and son.
The driver of the car, also the deceased woman’s husband and the boy’s father, was injured in the impact. The driver of the truck also suffered injuries, but fortunately not serious ones. The police, firefighters and 118 personnel quickly intervened at the scene of the accident, providing aid and transporting the injured to hospital.

The weather conditions, with the asphalt slippery due to the rain, may have contributed to the cause of the accident. The competent authorities are investigating to shed light on the dynamics of the incident and understand the causes that led to this tragedy.
