After Vesta, House Flowers Clear and the Ciumbia restaurant opened within a very short time in the most “in” district of Milan, Brera, the restaurant empire of Leonardo Del Vecchio’s youngest heir extends once again: this time, however, it heads straight towards the Riviera, or rather the rivieras, that of Versilia and that of the Ligurian East.

Glasses and cooking: the passions of Del Vecchio jr

The fourth son of the founder of LuxotticaLeonardo Maria Del Vecchio, in fact, in addition to working in the family business as managing director of Salmoiraghi & Viganò, also dedicates himself with great interest to fine dining and will soon open two more restaurants, Vesta Mare And Vesta Portofinoone in Marina di Pietrasanta and one in the splendid Paraggi bay in Portofino.

Both venues, where seafood cuisine will be the absolute protagonist, will be inaugurated in June. Specifically, Vesta Portofino will arrive in the spaces of the historic and legendary Carillon. In Versilia, however, Vesta Mare will open in the Bagni Franco Mare headquarters, taking over not only the gastronomic offer but also the bathing establishment. Both menus will be designed by Giorgio Bresciani, already the signature of the Milanese restaurant.

From Milan to the Versilia and Ligurian Rivieras

The Triple Sea Food group, behind Del Vecchio jr.’s gastronomic venture, does not intend to stop its progressexpansion towards the two riversAnd, natural extensions of Milanese holidays, reinforces the idea of ​​the desire to aim for the role of top player in haute cuisine. The idea of ​​everything took shape in the difficult years of Covid, in the mind of Davide Ciancio, CEO of the group, who proposed to Del Vecchio jr. and to two other partners, Marco Talarico and Carlo Ziller, the idea of ​​a brand diversified across multiple locations. The involvement was immediately convinced and general.

Intuition: a haute cuisine district

We therefore begin in September 2022 with the opening of Vesta, classic fish cuisine; follows a few months later Home Light Flowersnot far from the first, which has pizza and pasta with tomato sauce on the menu, to reach the third, the Trattoria at Ciumbia, with a typical Lombard menu. There is only one area: Brera, one of the most chic and luxurious neighborhoods in Milan. The reason for the choice, as Forbes reports, is not at all random: one of Triple Sea Food’s objectives is in fact to transform the area into a high-end restaurant district.

An old family passion

Leonardo Maria he is not the first in the family to have an interest in the restaurant sector: for example his mother, Nicoletta Zampillo, second wife of the founder of Luxottica, owns 10% of a startup that deals with kitchen sharingi.e. kitchens for rent to prepare meals to be delivered to your home.

If we consider, however, pure catering, then for Del Vecchio jr. it is actually a real debut. Very satisfied with how the restaurants are working, he doesn’t seem to have any intention of getting bored of the business quickly. He has only one regret: that the Father Leonardo did not have time to see the opening of the first restaurant. As the heir of the family told Repubblica, «he died a few weeks before the opening. I wanted to surprise him and, with the chefs, we were developing what has always been his favorite dish, pasta with clams. In our house there has always been a love for good food. Unfortunately it wasn’t possible.”
