The little girl who died inaccident occurred on Pontina Vecchia in Ardea (Rome) on Thursday 28 March. A very strong crash that involved three cars and took the life of the little girl. The tragic accident occurred in the early afternoon. The three vehicles collided at the intersection with Via della Pescarella just before 4pm. When help arrived there was nothing left to be done for the little girl. The health workers did everything possible to revive her by carrying out resuscitation maneuvers for a long time, but unfortunately everything was in vain.
What happened
In the car with her were her mother, taken by ambulance to Pomezia hospital in a state of shock, and her youngest brother, a five-year-old boy, who suffered several fractures. Two other children traveling in another car were also injured. A 118 helicopter landed on the scene with which the most seriously injured, a 50-year-old man, reached the San Camillo in Rome. The firefighters were busy extracting the injured from the sheets of the vehicles while the local police carried out extensive investigations with the help of the Carabinieri of the Ardea department.
The exact dynamics of the collision between the three cars which occurred at an intersection need to be clarified. From an initial reconstruction, it would appear that a car coming from Via della Pescarella did not respect a stop sign and collided with another vehicle coming from Via Pontina Vecchia at high speed. In the impact the driver would have lost control and collided with the car which was traveling in the other lane and in which the woman was traveling with her two children who live a few hundred meters from the site of the impact and were returning home. The crash was very strong and the little girl suffered the worst. All responsibilities must now be reconstructed.
The protests: always the same intersection
The drivers of the two cars were subjected to ritual tests for alcohol and drug intake. And the intersection where the tragedy occurred and where other accidents appear to have occurred in the past also ends up under accusation. “Nothing is being done to make that damned intersection safe” attack the inhabitants on social media. “What a tragedy – someone writes – they put a traffic light.” While another citizen states: “We are in 2023 and roundabouts are a utopia.”
