ALESSANDRIA – Suspensions, warnings and injuries but Vicenza did not allow themselves to be surprised and thanks to baby Busato and Ferrari they won 2-1 in Alessandria and maintained their positive streak, bringing it to sixteen. Vicenza presents itself at the Moccagatta with a largely restructured lineup for the playoffs: Golemic and Cuomo disqualified, the banned Sandon and Laezza on the bench, the injured Cavion rested and the flu-flu Costa; so Vecchi deploys a new defense made up of Sandon, Fantoni and De Col from the 1st minute, Tronchin with Ronaldo and Greco in midfield while Proia positions himself behind Delle Monache and Ferrari. In the 2nd minute the red and whites put the ball in the net with Ferrari who latched on to Talarico’s cross from the right and headed it over but the referee canceled everything due to a foul by “Loco”. The match, as one might imagine, is not played at a high pace and in the 23rd minute things get complicated for Vicenza who are forced to replace Fantoni due to injury and insert Lattanzio in his place, at this point Vecchi positions Tronchin at the center of defense but the red and whites remain active in the offensive phase and in the 24th minute Ferrari serves Delle Monache who unleashes a powerful shot from the edge and the ball goes just wide. The midfield of the red and whites is organized by the plays of Greco and Ronaldo but in the 37th minute it is the Brazilian who commits a foul on Busatto inside the penalty area and the referee awards the penalty: from eleven meters the former Vicenza player takes charge and beats Confente for the surprising Piedmontese advantage. The Berici want to react immediately and in the 43rd minute Ronaldo goes to the far post for Talarico who puts it back in the middle, the defense sweeps one step away from the line where Greco was lurking ready for the winning deflection. After a first half in which absences affected Lanerossi’s tactical schemes, Vecchi decided to replace a dull Proia with Della Morte and the rhythm was totally different: in the 48th minute Ronaldo took charge of a free kick and Greco hooked the ball with his head but the midfielder just misses the target. The Brazilian continues to be lively and in the 49th minute he is the protagonist of a good move on the wing, he skips his markers and crosses low into the middle, but the ball is deflected for a corner. Vecchi’s team certainly created more than in the first half, Della Morte and Delle Monache pushed several times along the flanks, also winning several corners. In the 63rd minute Ronaldo serves a through ball for Delle Monache who, from a tight angle, fails to engage the “Greys” goalkeeper. Vicenza persists in search of an equalizer and in the 68th minute Ferrari wastes a headed opportunity after a kissed cross from Ronaldo. In the 70th minute Vecchi decides to make his debut for the 2004 class Busato in place of Talarico, on the other side Alessandria plays in difficulty without being able to cross the halfway line and in the 70th minute they are left with ten men due to the expulsion of Gega, the scorer of a foul on Ferrari and sanctioned with the second yellow. Lane thus has almost twenty minutes to try to take advantage of it and in the 76th minute Delle Monache is served by Della Morte but the former Sampdoria player fights with the ball and wastes everything in the key moment. Lane shows no sign of decreasing their final effort, in the 86th minute they also introduce the “primavera” Conzato in place of Tronchin and in the 87th minute a header from Sandon is blocked by the goalkeeper, the ball reaches Busato who scores the first goal among the professionals for the 1-1. At this point Vecchi’s team believes in a comeback and in the 95th minute they get a penalty that Ferrari doesn’t miss and scores the 2-1 goal which is worth the three points and the hope of the third best place.
