One hundred years ago, Giacomo Matteotti, the honorable socialist who courageously denounced the electoral fraud with which fascism had come to power, was murdered. Squares and streets were dedicated to Matteotti in the Republican era, but his political testament, his ideal foresight was crushed by the violence with which he was killed.

“Giacomo Matteotti, the best Italy” is the title of book written by the Honorable Federico Fornarowhich will be presented at 5pm on Sunday 5 May, in the Conference Room of the Cremonese Filodrammatici Society, in Piazza Filodrammatici 2. An appointment wanted by the Socialist Party of Cremona to return to talking about a celebrated figure, but forgotten as regards his thought and his political action.

The meeting will be introduced by the secretary of the Cremonese section of the party, Diego Rufo, greetings will follow Silvia Coppettipresident of the Mario Coppetti Foundation, of Tino Boccasasso and Andrea Virgilio deputy mayor of Cremona. Then the author, Federico Fornaro, will dialogue with Enzo Marraionational secretary of the PSI and with the professor Daniele Rescaglio.

The meeting will be moderated by the journalist Federico Pani of the weekly “Il piccolo di Cremona”. An appointment to open a reflection and grasp some extremely topical elements of the figure of Giacomo Matteotti, giving voice to a figure who at the dawn of the dictatorship was able to understand what was happening before anyone else, even his own party.
