Acqui Terme. The Municipality of Acqui Terme, in collaboration with the Pro Loco of Ovrano, announces the second edition of the “L’Oro della Bollente” Award, an award which in its name recalls its link to the City of Acqui, but which has as its objective the intention to enhance the historical tradition and Italian gastronomy, following a historical, cultural, food and wine journey, recounting facts, monuments and recipes and underlining the cultural significance of culinary practice, which represents an important resource for the construction of identity, memory and belonging social in a specific historical-geographical context.
The City of Acqui Terme intends to promote a process of recovery and valorization of the enormous heritage of ancient recipes.
“Cookbooks” are editorial products that constitute a very interesting object of analysis, as manifestations of a society in an era: in fact, when talking about cuisine they also talk about the society that produces them and its evolution. Their explanatory potential, regarding the rules and social variables that underlie the culinary world, is therefore strong.
Printed works by Italian or foreign authors, published in Italian, which propose recipes alternating with chapters dedicated to certain historical periods and geographical areas (which may also include routes through borderlands) or inserted in a historical context, may compete for the Award. /geographical/cultural well defined. The historical period must be understood from the year 1800 to the present day.
Literary works must present one of the following culinary themes:
- Historical stories and recipes of Italian regional cuisine in political and social times (Kingdom of Savoy, Wars, etc.)
- Historical stories and recipes of Italian Regional Cuisine with Religious Topics (Cooking with Prayers, Ethnic Cuisine, etc.)
- Historical stories and recipes of Italian Regional Cuisine by Individuals (Chefs, Gastronomes, Schools, UNPLI Association, etc.)
