Meeting on Simone de Beauvoir at Libraccio

Meeting on Simone de Beauvoir at Libraccio
Descriptive text here

The next meeting of the reading group at Libraccio on Saturday 30 March, at 2.30 pm, in collaboration with the Purple Square movement is dedicated to one of the greatest exponents of existentialism and feminism of the 20th century, Simone de Beauvoir. In this appointment the text “Femininity, a trap” will be addressed. Unpublished writings 1927-1983”.

Tireless icon unmasker of every gender prejudice, acute intellectual capable of transforming her philosophical analysis into a passionate political position: Simone de Beauvoir emerges in all her current relevance in this collection of texts previously unpublished in Italian. From the first article published, through an intense portrait of Sartre, personal interviews and far-sighted militancy articles, up to the later interventions on the society of the image, these writings vibrate with the urgency of a thought which, encouraging restlessness, is able to open new glimpses into the world. Whether he writes about the power of literature or the condition of single mothers, whether he rails against the objectification of women in advertising campaigns, or whether he predicts the advent of new forms of sexuality, Beauvoir always maintains the clear tone of rationality, unshakeable but capable to agree with the plural reasons of societies and individuals.

Purple Square is a virtual and physical community inspired by Michela Murgia. The intent of Purple Square is, in fact, to collect Murgia’s words, preserving her precious cultural and political heritage and carrying forward the sharing of her values. Purple Square originated on Telegram, where thousands of people deal with various topics (rights, education, reading, masculinity, and much more) and are committed to listening and respecting all requests and sensitivities.

The people of Purple Square set themselves the goal of making their voices heard, in order to transform themselves and the world around them also through collective projects and actions, where everyone has the right to speak and participate and can contribute to the path collective as he wishes.

For 18 years Este.com offers independent information to its readers and has never accepted public funds so as not to weigh even a cent on the shoulders of the community. The work we do has a considerable economic cost and private advertising is not always sufficient.
For this reason we ask those who read us every day and, we hope, appreciate us to give us a small contribution based on their possibilities. Even a small amount of support, multiplied by the tens of thousands of Ferrarese who read us every day, can become fundamental.
