For the third time in four years the Curcio Institute of Ispica reaches first place in an important competition concerning energy, and more precisely the energy and environmental policies linked to the use of renewable energy.

After the international first place achieved last year by 3AS and 5AS in the PlayEnergy competition, this year it was the turn of 3BS, led by teacher Fabio Marcedone, who achieved first national place in the “Power Your Future” competition.

The aim of the competition was to reconstruct from scratch the complex and unfortunately disastrous energy policy of the imaginary planet Ergon. From this, the students first studied the economy and resources of the various states, focusing on the maps and orography in search of renewable energy sources, with the aim of guiding the planet towards an entirely green energy transition.

Distinguishing themselves from the other numerous Italian schools participating in the project, the Curcio students proposed a detailed twenty-year energy restructuring plan, which was checked and validated by sector experts, who considered it the most complete and realistic, especially under the scientific aspect.

The competition took place through a role play and a series of debates in which the students demonstrated their ability to independently discuss energy and environmental policies, searching for reliable sources from which to take data and process it, with the aim of making appropriate political decisions.

Satisfaction was expressed by the teacher Fabio Marcedone: “The result obtained by the 3BS, which follows that of other classes in previous years, highlights how the students of our Institute, appropriately guided, can fully compete with those of the institutes of the rest of Italy”.

The head teacher Maurizio Franzò is on the same wavelength: “This remarkable result makes us proud not only for the simple victory, but because it demonstrates, for the third time in four years, the high quality of the educational offer achieved by the institute Curcio and above all the sensitivity acquired by our students towards energy and environmental policies which have become part of our daily lives for some time. Ad maiora!”
