Match of the season for Mr. Vinoli’s red and whites who missed the chance of reaching the final of the Veneto Cup after 90 minutes played with a good spirit of sacrifice and will, but making a lot of mistakes in the attacking phase and in the game geometries. Limena who proves to be in great shape, with many top players and with great technical ability in managing and building the game.
Montebello started very well and with center forward Zec had the chance to take the lead in the 25th minute but a great intervention by goalkeeper Zilio denied the home team the joy of scoring. Bileac and Lunardi try again but the visiting defense always disengages with rebounds that don’t reward the red and whites. Limena had great possession of the ball but it didn’t reach the Scaranto area…until the 45th minute when a lateral free kick from 30 meters by Artuso cut very hard at the near post and hit the defender’s head Andreasi and gives Limena the lead.
The second half saw the home team attack, but with confused ideas and without any great scoring opportunities, with many long balls where the visiting defense always had the upper hand.
A few melees in the squares, or on corner kicks but nothing more, for a team that sees the possibility of equalizing disappearing minute after minute with confused and clouded ideas that lead to nothing. It ends with Limena in attack where the Padua attackers devour 3 gigantic opportunities to double the lead, on the counterattack alone in front of the goalkeeper, deserving the passage to the final on April 10th.
Captain Regazzo and the gem Niselli, a player of another category, were the best on the pitch in a very organized and technically strong team. For the locals, the all-rounder Targon Filippo emerges from total mediocrity.
