Roger Moore’s grave was not desecrated, Monegasque authorities deny

The tomb of Roger Moore (1927-2017), the English actor famous for playing James Bond in seven films, was not desecrated in the Principality of Monaco. The newspaper Monaco-Matin denied a news reported by TMZ. The American tabloid, based on the testimony of a fan who went to pay homage to his grave, announced that the actor’s family coat of arms had been torn and stolen, along with a miniature model of an Aston Martin, the famous luxury car who led in the James Bond saga.

Contacted by TMZthe local police had declared that they were not aware of this act of vandalism, as no one had reported it. TMZ had published photos of the grave before and after the alleged desecration he had received from the fan. If the “plaque with the Moore family coat of arms was actually found broken”, the newspaper underlines Monaco-Matinit was “certainly after it had come off”. The Monegasque authorities, who went to the site with a marble worker after the uproar caused by the news reported by TMZ, are more likely to believe that the glue has eroded, since the plaque was found broken on the pavement of the burial. As for the miniature model of the racing car that would have been stolen, the Volvo used by the actor in the show The Saint and not James Bond’s Aston Martin, nothing was heard of that either. Roger Moore, who died of cancer at the age of 89, divided his time between his Swiss chalet in Crans-Montana and Monaco, where he had expressed a wish to be buried.
