Parma, June 27, 2024 – In recent days, the best three students of the CyberChallenge.IT training program were awarded at the Centro Sant’Elisabetta of the University of Parma.

CyberChallenge.IT, organized by the Cybersecurity National Lab with the patronage of the National Cybersecurity Agency, is dedicated to young people aged between 16 and 24 and is the main Italian initiative to train the next generation of security professionals informatics. Participants have the opportunity to train on the fundamental scientific, technical and ethical principles of cybersecurity, together with university experts and leading companies in the sector. The University of Parma has been joining since January 2021, on the initiative of the teachers Luca Veltri e Roberto Alfieri and thanks to the support of the IT Security Unit.

The training course, which took place from February to May after two initial selections, was attended by 25 students from the University’s Computer Science and Engineering degree courses and from ITIS “Leonardo da Vinci” (for the ITIS teacher coordination Ramon Ugolotti). The participants were prepared, trained and supported by Gianluca Altomani (PhD in Computer, Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering and member of the Italian cybersecurity national team TeamItaly), Manuel Romei (Doctor of Information Systems Engineering), Luca Veltri (teacher of the CyberSecurity course) and Marco Sanfelici (doctor in Computer, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering).

At the end of the training course, the students faced a local competition on the main topics of the course. The three best were Marco Paini, Thomas Bruschi e Matteo MaccaroneThat They were awarded in the presence of the Vice-Rector for Information Systems, Innovation and the PNRR Andrea Prati and the top management of the main sponsor company, SIGHUP.

The best six students of the course (in addition to the three winners also Gregorio Maria Valle, Michele Cavagni e Harold Boado) will be part of the University team that will compete in the national cybersecurity championship on July 4th against the other 45 universities participating in the CyberChallenge project.
