TCL 115“ Experience: Extra Large TV Pleases Consumers

Last June 22nd, TCL invited us to present their gigantesco TV 115X955 to the public at the Euronics Bruno sales points in Milan and Palermo. The event was an opportunity for dozens of people to see live for the first time the largest television on the market today, the first 115 inches. During the event our role was to talk about the product, its features and also to carry out a small demo with some selected clips, which showed how the Mini LED backlight works and the potential with HDR content. At the end of the presentation and demo, we also gave the participants the opportunity to tell us their opinion on the television and its dimensions. In the following video we tell the story of the day in the two appointments.

The 115 inches didn’t scare anyone

The first point that we take home from this experience, which saw the participation of enthusiasts, but above all of many ordinary people, is that Big screens are actually nice. We were prepared to hear that, after all, a TV like this is too big, even exaggerated, and instead not only did no one object to the choice of offering such a large TV, but in fact its dimensions were considered one of the most interesting features.

Of course, there are those who have raised the issue of having the space at home to host such a colossus and almost all have admitted that the cost (23,999 euros the retail price) is completely prohibitive at the moment, but the participants have been in agreement in considering the new format immersive and a true home cinema. There are those who see it as ideal for gaming and those who would see it well in a venue to watch matches and sporting events.

HDR and quantum dot colors are stunning

All participants were then impressed by the color rendering of the 115X955. The TVs in Milan and Palermo were shown in “cinema” mode, which offers the best image calibration “out of the box”, and for the demos we used HDR content, which helped to highlight the potential of TCL’s Mini LED solution.

Even non-experts were impressed by the color rendering of the television, even without knowing what exactly HDR means and what benefits it brings, which, having not used the “store” mode, set on all other televisions displayed in stores as usual commercial, we were pleased. Evidently, by using the right contents, consumers are able to distinguish a good image regardless of certain “tricks”.

Clearly, since the two demos were held in commercial spaces, without the possibility of having control over the ambient light, it was not possible to best show the performance in terms of local dimming on the darkest scenes, but the more expert still noticed the good functioning of the Mini LED backlighting, which managed to keep up with the strong lights of the stores, offering a good impact of the HDR video.

For those who want to find out more, we remind you that we had the opportunity to preview TCL’s 115 inch at a dedicated event in recent weeks, which you can find below.
