As of 5:30 PM today, June 27, reports have been piling up from users who they can’t use WhatsApp. It seems that the problem does not only concern Italy, reports are also arriving from abroad. The nature of the malfunction is not clear and Meta has not yet released any official statements. On the Downdetector portal, users are registering problems mainly in sending and receiving voice messages, GIFs, images and videos. In Italy, the first reports came from the big cities.
On X users write: “Are you also unable to use WhatsApp? I tried to reload but everything seems blocked!“. Within minutes of the start of the downtime, the reports exceeded 2,000. Many users reported that the messages sent on WhatsApp had only one tick.
