As was previously indicated, during the Devolver Direct event it was announced the new game from Devolver Digital and Heart Machinethe authors of Hyper Light Drifter and Solar Ash: it’s about Possessor(s)a scrolling action adventure shown in trailers and images.
At first glance it may seem like a sort of metroidvania, but Possessor(s) is defined as a scrolling action particularly focused on combat, rather than on action between platforms and finding your way within the map.
The game takes place in a particular world, composed of several interconnected environments and with a sort of ruined megalopolis in the background, leading us to explore various sections of it.
A scrolling action
The presentation trailer shows some sections of the gameplay and explains something about the story.
The protagonists of Possessor(s) are Luca, the “guest”, and Rehm, a counterpart defined as “not very cooperative”, but who will still have to work together to survive within this enormous city in ruins and in quarantine, progressively invaded by some sort of interdimensional cataclysm.
The gameplay it is very focused on the clashes, which appear fast and dynamic, but the whole game is also equipped with a rather developed narrative, thanks also to a notable aesthetic characterization that gives the whole thing a very particular atmosphere.
Indicated as one of the main games of the Devolver Direct by a teaser trailer before tonight’s event, Possessor(s) is therefore expected for 2025 on PC and unspecified consoles, for the moment.
