The Gemini app arrives in Italy on iOS and Android, here’s how to download the Google AI

Google has announced the arrival ofGemini app in several countries, and Italy is among them. After being published in February in the United States, the application can now also be downloaded for free in Europe and the United Kingdom, but only on Android. On iOS it will be integrated into the Google app within a few weeks.

The Gemini app allows you to type, speak or add a picture for different needs: you can take a photo of your flat car tire and ask for instructions on how to change it, or get help writing a thank you message. According to the American company, this is an important first step in creating a truly useful and functional AI assistant.

How does Gemini work on Android?

To access Gemini on Android, you can proceed in two ways: by downloading the Gemini app from the Play Store or by activating the option via Google Assistant. You can use Gemini by swiping right, pressing the power button on certain phones, or by saying “Hey Google.”

After providing a series of new permissions, which will effectively allow Google to train the AI through our use, the app will enable a new experience that offers simple access to Gemini, as well as contextual help directly on the screen. Many voice features that were usually used in Google Assistant will then be available through the Gemini app, including setting a timer, making calls and setting a reminder. Google is working to support others in the future, such as the management of media service providers and simultaneous translation in Interpreter mode; for now Google Assistant will continue to support Gemini, so as to make up for the lack of these functions.

On iOS, access to Gemini directly from the Google app will be implemented in the coming weeks. At that point, just tap the Gemini button and chat with the AI. Google’s goal is to expand language and device support to have more and more data to power AI.

However, you can decide to return to Google Assistant at any time, also because from a first superficial use the app seems a little more cumbersome than the old assistant. Have you tried it? What do you think about it? Tell us yours in the comments below.
