WhatsApp has introduced a feature that everyone has wanted at least once in their life: what is it and who is it available for?
During the years WhatsApp has become the most used instant messaging application in the world but it has also changed over time. Initially, in fact, it was possible to exchange mainly through WhatsApp text message, exactly as the now forgotten SMS allowed us to do.
With technological advancement and the continuous improvement of smartphone hardware, WhatsApp has gradually been able to introduce the possibility of share different types of media, mainly photographs and videos in addition of course to audio files, links and gifs.
If until a few years ago the most shared medium of all was photography, today it is certainly videos that have won the preference of users, also thanks to the extraordinary success of TikTok. Since there are more and more shared videos and therefore each user receives many of them every day, WhatsApp has decided to implement a function to improve the enjoyment of videos by users, especially longer videos.
What the new WhatsApp feature will allow you to do
According to information released by the WABetaInfo website, the latest WhatsApp update available for iOS introduces the possibility of navigate within a video shared via WhatsApp by scrolling back and forth along the run bar, in order to view only the most interesting parts of a video and skip the less beautiful parts or those that do not contain the information we need at that moment.
To do this it will be enough tap the edge of the video playback window, to the right or left and, in all likelihood, the video will go forward or backward by ten seconds: a function that has already been present for some time on other video playback software such as that of Netflix.
It is, of course, one function under test, so it could be spread in waves until reaching all users: if it is not immediately available to a user, they will simply have to wait.
Another innovation in video recording and sharing is theintroducing a new feature for the camera button positioned at the end of the WhatsApp writing bar, that is, the one that allows us to take photos and shoot videos directly in the app.
Now, keeping the icon pressed will start recording a short video of a maximum length of one minute and which starts by activating the secondary camera, i.e. the selfie one. A perfect feature for an instant video message.
