Volkswagen and the restyling of the T-Cross

What’s new on the exterior

Let’s start with the dimensions, from here comes the first news: the new Volkswagen T-Cross is 4.14 meters long, 3 cm longer than the previous version. For the rest everything is unchanged, with a width of 1.76 meters, a height of 1.60 meters and a wheelbase of 2.55 meters. The other innovations come from the revised design of the front bumper, which has a silver painted element in the lower part, but on the new T-Cross there are also new full LED lights (on all trim levels) and with the addition of the Matrix IQ.LIGHT LED matrix on the richest version, the Style. A particular: The headlights are framed by wing-shaped daytime running lights, which are joined by a bright crossbar that runs across the grille at the front. Also at the rear the LED lights are found and reflect an “X” design dedicated to the T-Cross Style, finally, as at the front, also in this area the bumper has a central element painted in silver. Silhouette instead you can see the shells of the rear-view mirrors with integrated direction indicators, the alloy wheels with three new designs and three new colors for the bodywork: Grape Yellow (bright yellow), Clear Blue Metallic (a more elegant light blue), Kings Red Metallic (a light bright red).

The interior and driving assistance

The new T-Cross makes its debut dashboard with 8″ (Life and Edition Plus) and 10″ (Style and R-Line) digital instrument panel, but in general the passenger compartment has been refreshed using plastics that are now softer and more pleasant to the touch. We confirm that the trunk capacity places the T-Cross in an advantageous position compared to other competitors, with a volume varying from 385 liters to 455 litres based on the position of the rear seats, which can slide 14 cm. On the driving assistance front, Travel Assist with ACC adaptive cruise control and Lane Assist lane maintenance is standard equipment across the entire range.

Equipment and prices

There are four equipment levels of the new Volkswagen T-Cross: Life, Edition Plus, Style and R-Line. The access version Life it starts from 26,200 euros for the 95 HP 1.0 TSI while you have to spend at least 31,000 euros for the fittings Style and R-Line. Below we bring you a curiosity: the special version Edition Plus it costs just 200 euros more than the Life, but offers standard equipment including a package of accessories that cost more than 2,000 euros (17″ alloy wheels, metallic paint, tinted rear windows, opening/closing doors and Keyless keyless starting, Rear View reversing camera and Light & Vision Pack Plus (photosensitive internal rear-view mirror, rain sensor for windshield wipers and Light Assist automatic high beam switch-off system). Volkswagen probably identified the Edition Plus as the heart of the range of the new T-Cross.
