Interviewed by Michele Contessa on “La Nuova di Venezia e Mestre”, Davide Casarin he spoke in view of the San Juan Pre-Olympic that he will live from home, given that it was coach Pozzecco’s last cut: “We must not set limits, even if observing the composition of the San Juan sextet, it is logical to think that Lithuania start as the favorite and that Puerto Rico will be carried away by its fans. Even before Tokyo, Italy was not the favorite as it had to play in the Belgrade group against Serbia. Instead, the strength of the group managed to get the better of one of the strongest teams in the world. Why not believe it? The confidence is there, the victories against Georgia and Spain in the last two friendlies before leaving for Miami can only have increased the awareness of the Italian group.”
For the second consecutive season, Davide will be part of coach Spahija’s roster: “The last year has been fundamental for me to grow further thanks to the work and trust that the coach and his staff have given me, enough to start in most of the matches in starting five. By playing, you gain more and more awareness.”
Are there any regrets about how the year ended, given the 3-1 defeat to Virtus Segafredo Bologna in the semifinals? “But no, maybe we could have taken one of the two away games away, but in the end we didn’t succeed. There was a great reaction in Game 3 at Taliercio, playing the fourth match on equal terms until the start of the last quarter. Let’s not forget that we were facing a team that had occupied one of the top positions in the Euroleague regular season for a long time and we managed to put them in difficulty in all four games”.
