Everything is ready for the long-awaited arrival of the first stage of the Tour de France which for the first time in its more than one hundred year history, will start from Italy this year with three Emilia-Romagna stages: Florence-Rimini, Cesenatico-Bologna and Piacenza- Turin for over 600 kilometers of route. The city began to be colored yellow and with fans waiting for the champions and the eyes of the world focused on the city. The race route will be closed starting from 2pm on Saturday 29 June.

Given the size of the event and the notable turnout of the public, the local police suggests, where possible, to anticipate any departures and movements on the morning of Saturday 29 June, it is foreseeable that during the entire afternoon, also due to the arrival of a large number of spectators, there may be more critical problems on the road system.

Furthermore, for south-north and north-south travel, on Saturday 29 June it is highly recommended to use the Rimini Nord-Riccione motorway section. The main road signs

Starting From June 28th the last km of the route will be closed (on Lungomare Di Vittorio) to be able to prepare for the arrival while the remaining race course will be closed starting at 2pm on Saturday 29th June, with consequent suspension of circulation for all vehicles (with the exception of emergency vehicles). To guarantee complete use of access to the emergency room, via Settembrini (which, in the two lanes towards the sea, will be part of the race route) will remain passable on only one lane towards the emergency room, from which access will also be guaranteed. exit, always on a single lane, in the mountain direction, with the exception of the actual passage of the race during which traffic will also be prohibited in this lane. Access to the emergency room will always be possible, both incoming and outgoing, even from via Ovidio.

Race route

The tender will enter the Municipality of Rimini, passing through the Republic of San Marino, from the Customs border where, traveling along the entire SS 72, you will reach the new roundabout between the San Marino highway and state road 16 “Adriatica”.

Then the race will travel along the SS 16 southbound fup to the Befane roundabout where it will enter the town center of Rimini and, through Viale SettembriniViale Chiabrera and Viale Firenze, will reach viale Regina Elena. Here he will continue on this last route up to piazzale Gondar where it will reach the Lungomare Di Vittorio, in a northerly direction, until crossing the finish line (located at bathroom 72).

Race times

The arrival of the advertising caravan (made up of over 100 vehicles) is expected at approximately 4.05pm.

The arrival of the first runners is expected at approximately 5.34pm.

Modification of the road system

Tuesday 25th June

From 01:00 on 25/06 to 22:00 on 29/06, closure of the viale Chiabrera car park (available to the Tour organization).

Wednesday 26 June

From 6.00pm on 26/06 to 10.00pm on 29/06, closure of the Lungomare Di Vittorioin the stretch from via La Città delle Donne to via La Voce della Luna.

Friday 28 June

From 8.00pm on 28/06 to 10.00pm on 29/06, closure of the remaining stretch of Lungomare Di Vittorio, from Piazzale Gondar to Piazzale Benedetto Croce.

Saturday 29 June

From 10:00 to 20:00, closure of the entire area of ​​the Rotonda Lucio Battisti and of via Colombo (section Vie Bianchi/Cappellini-Rotonda Lucio Battisti), Beccadelli (section Viale Vespucci-Lungomare Tintori) and Lungomare Tintori (section Viale Beccadelli -Via Bianchi).

The last 3 km of the race route (from the Befane roundabout to the finish line) will be closed to traffic from 2pm on Saturday 29 June.

Route crossings

In the last 2 km of the route, being an inhabited area with a high tourist presence, 3 gates will be established in the barrier (in this last section, as mentioned, continues) which will be manned by the organization’s staff to allow pedestrians to pass. These gates will be closed 15 minutes before the passage of the Caravan, then subsequently reopened and then closed again 15 minutes before the passage of the race. The gates are located:

– Viale Firenze, 10 m before Viale Regina Elena (i.e. 1.3 km before the arrival)

– Piazzale Gondar (850 m before the finish)

– Lungomare Giuseppe Di Vittorio, near Via La Voce della Luna. The organization will guarantee this crossing point approximately 315 m before the finish line.

In order to allow crossing the San Marino highway which will be part of the race route, two crossing points manned by police operators have been provided:

-intersection SS 72/via Amola/via Montevecchio;

-intersection SS 72/via La Pastora/SP 49.

Alternative routes

To bypass the race route, the underpass of via Rodriguez can be used, which can also be reached from the southern area via the route via Varisco-via Macanno-via Acquabona-via Coriano.

For the occasion, to reach Via Coriano more easily, the road system inside the Gros will also be usable and passable (in both directions).

Highway

The Rimini-Sud motorway toll booth will be closed on exits on Saturday 29 June from 2pm to 6pm (and in any case until the needs cease) while on entry it will remain open with the exception of the period of time between 5pm and the passage of the race, when the access roads will be closed and therefore the motorway toll booth will not be accessible.

The local police garrison

The device put in place by the local police of Rimini for the arrival of the Tour de France involves the use of around a hundred officers and 10 coordinating officers. To these will be added the reinforcements (about twenty) coming from the Commands of Ravenna, Bellaria-Igea Marina and Santarcangelo, activated already in recent months.

The police personnel will then be joined by a few dozen volunteers from civil protection associations.

The staff on duty will be divided into several shifts and will be employed in the 80 fixed positions that will delimit the area closed to traffic and the alternative roads.

For any needs that may arise in conjunction with the event, six patrols of motorcyclists have also been foreseen to deal with any critical issues that may arise.
