Milan, Rafael Leao said no: final decision on the future

Decision made by Rafael Leao regarding his future. The Portuguese winger has already made his desire known to Milan.

It certainly wasn’t a quiet month of June for Milan and for all its fans. There are many issues that are taking centre stage in the Rossoneri house and one of the most unravelled is undoubtedly the one linked to Rafael Leao and his possible farewell. The eyes of Saudi Arabia and in particular ofAl-Hilal by Jorge Jesus, coach who effectively launched the class of ’98 into great football at the time of Sporting Lisbon.

The Saudi club has already presented to the Rossoneri an offer from approx 1o0 million euros, which has obviously increased the rumors about a possible transfer of the former Lille player quite a bit. In the last few days, however, while the player is busy with the Portuguese national team at the European Championships in Germany (with two less than satisfactory performances), his wishes have been made known.

No Arabia in Leao’s plans: priority given to Milan

According to what was reported by Corriere dello Sport in today’s edition, in recent days there have already been direct contacts between representatives of Al-Hilal and Antonio Leao, father and agent of the Rossoneri ace, complete with an offer already presented. From these talks, however, Leao’s desire to remain in Europe and above all to continue wearing the Rossoneri jersey emerged, in a project that sees him as increasingly central.

Milan for their part have made it known that they are not willing to make compromises and will only let the Portuguese leave if the release clause is paid by 175 million euros. The chances, therefore, of seeing Leao fly to Saudi Arabia are now nil and, barring currently unexpected offers from some European big names, the future of the 25-year-old born in Almada will be with the Rossoneri again next season.

The arrival of his compatriot Paulo Fonseca on the bench of Milan it is undoubtedly a clear signal of how much Leao is considered the man from which to start again and on which to build the next team. In the meantime, the player is busy in the European Championships with his Portugal, where after a less than exciting start, a change of direction is expected to help the team reach the bottom of the competition, trying to repeat the 2016 victory.
