Volley Banca Macerata has formalized the arrival of spiker Giuseppe Ottaviani, born in 1991, who has played in Cantù (A2) for the last two seasons. The player has a long career behind him having worn the shirts of Tuscania, Ortona, Spoleto, Castellana Grotte and Siena. His arrival will guarantee the Macerata team, newly promoted to A2, quality and experience in the category.

“After the last few years in Lombardy – explained Ottaviani – I wanted to get closer to central Italy. And Macerata is the perfect place for me: I arrived at an important club of which I have only heard good things. Furthermore, I know coach Maurizio Castellano and he will be a nice to work together for the first time.” The new red and white then talks about his future team. “I have encountered different opponents among the new teammates, I know – says the spiker – that a competitive roster has been built, with players who have great potential and more experienced athletes”. Macerata achieved promotion to A2 last year at the end of a season as a protagonist and now the foundations have been laid for the new championship. “The jump in category to A2 is important, the game – explains Ottaviani – changes a lot given that the physical level rises and affects all the fundamentals. I and the other players who know this category better will be able to help the younger ones, I am convinced that our experience will represent an additional weapon for the team.”

And here’s what coach Castellano says about Ottaviani’s arrival in red and white. “He is among the most expert athletes in the group – he said – and above all a very solid player. We rely on his qualities and his experience. When the opportunity arose to bring him to Macerata we had no doubts: he will be a precious resource in an A2 championship that promises to be very competitive and difficult.”
